Bound in Silk 4

Bound in Silk 3

ENDLICH!!!

It’s Just You

Raissa and I have done it again!! (She now has diabetes from all the sweetness, but well.)

It’s Just You releases today!!

I am who I am: flamboyant, androgynous, comfortable in my own skin — well, there’s that one thing, but generally I am me, and I love it that way. It’s easy to ignore scars from the past, especially when they can be covered up and forgotten. What I don’t love is having to spend time in my hometown after having escaped the bullies there years ago. The only plus side is meeting up with one of my best friends again… and his brother Kane.

Who the heck expected him to end up as a hunk of a guy, tattooed and sexy and all that? It’s just a pity he’s straight. Or maybe not interested in anyone at all? Or…?

I can’t figure him out. But I never back down from a challenge, that’s for sure, and I want to see what’s really going on behind those beautiful, troubled eyes.

This 70k slow burn romance features a sexy guy who’s never really been attracted to anyone before (let alone another man) and a man who needs to accept that he can be loved despite for who he is beneath the makeup and lingerie as well as in it.

5* Beautiful and sweet
Kudos to all three men for having the courage to attempt this wild arrangement. It took a lot of strength of character and love for your partner to put your relationship on the line like this. Things could have gone much differently. In the end, all three found their missing pieces to make them whole. Such a beautiful sweet emotional story, and I couldn’t put it down. (complete review)

Author Interview: The Better To Kiss You With by Michelle Osgood

The Better 900px (Tumblr)

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Michelle Osgood author of The Better to Kiss You With.

Hi Michelle thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Hi, thanks for having me! I’m a writer who lives in Vancouver, BC, with my partner Elizabeth and our two black cats. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and have been fascinated with storytelling for as long as I can remember. The Better to Kiss You With is a paranormal romance about Deanna, the moderator of an online werewolf role playing game, who falls for the mysterious woman living above her.

Tell us something no one else knows about your characters.

Nathan’s favourite nights are when Deanna goes out of town and asks him to dog sit Arthur. He lets Arthur share his bed, and loves nothing more than curling up with another warm body. Arthur isn’t the best bed partner, because his hair gets everywhere, but he’s a great cuddler, and has never once complained about Nathan snoring.

What inspires you in life or in writing?

What inspires me in life is people who have big, huge, impossible goals, and are completely unafraid of them. I have so much respect for anyone who can look past what we’re told our limits are, and who never stops working to achieve that goal.

What is the most important thing about your subject/genre that people need to know?

There’s been lots of discussion lately about the kinds of stories that queer women are allowed to be a part of—and I think it’s important to realize that queer women deserve happy endings. Queer women’s stories so often end in tragedy, in heartbreak, and those aren’t the kind of stories we deserve. We deserve to be a part of the romance genre, we deserve complex, interesting female characters who find other complex, interesting female characters, and fall in love. We deserve happily ever after.

How did you become involved in the subject/theme of your book?

One of the subjects that comes up in The Better to Kiss You With is online harassment. As I was writing this book, GamerGate was in full swing, and seeing so many women speak out about the threats, stalking, and harassment they were enduring infuriated me. They were experiencing very real terror, primarily perpetrated by men, and often the harassment only worsened after they dared to speak out. The lack of consequences the perpetrators of that kind of violence—because it is, undoubtedly, violence—faced was so, so unfair to me. I wanted to in some way acknowledge the fear these women endured.

What famous person (living or dead) would you like to meet and why?

I would love to meet LJ Smith, who wrote one of my favourite novels of all time, The Forbidden Game. It would be very cool to be able to tell her how much that story meant to me!

Thank you!

Release day and a much needed break

Photo of small bridge entering the morning mist

Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me releases in a few hours and I wanted to write a celebration post. I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am because I never believed this book would be finished. But it is. It will release. The ARCs are sent out, the book is uploaded to Amazon and ARe. Everything is ready to go.

BUT, while I’m happy, I’m more. I’m tired. So very tired. I’ve been pushing myself, writing three to four hours every day, at night, when the kids are in bed, in the mornings, before they get up. Whenever I had time. I know,  three to four hours doesn’t sound much, but it is when you have a household, two kids and a 30 hour work week. For me, it’s a lot. Too much.

I love it, don’t get me wrong, but lately, it’s become a burden. Mate Me, Hate Me, Date Me, Love Me drained me. I read it so many times, I couldn’t see the words anymore. I edited it to hell and back. I played around with the cover, with the content, with everything. This book has grown on me, I love it dearly, but while I’m ready to release it to the world (I couldn’t stop it now anyway), I’m not ready to move on. I can’t start a new book. Okay, truth to be told, my next story sits at 15k, but I can’t write it now. I can’t bring myself to open my document.

I need a break. I’m empty. Totally. Once, I breathed words, I lived them, I needed them. They filled my life, pouring out of me, onto the page. Now, there is silence (It’s scary when the voices are suddenly silent!). I won’t lie and tell you that I’m not afraid. I’m just starting out, I have so many stories to write, what if the voices won’t come back?

Deep down inside of me, I know they WILL be back. A few already whisper, but they are too quiet for me to really hear them. There are stories I want to write, need to write, but first, I’m going to take a break. A week, most likely two. No writing, just reading and playing stupid online games, but I won’t open a document for the next two weeks.

I might get cranky or bitchy because of my break, so please bear with me. Maybe I find my voice back in a few days and start again with the passion once inside of me.

Have you experienced the same? What did you do about it?
