Blurb:

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’s new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

Review: Make Me Soar by K.C. Wells (Collars & Cuffs #6)

MakeMeSoarLGI’ve been looking forwad to Dorian’s story. I knew there was  more to the character than being the resident pain slut at Collars & Cuffs, but I never expected the reason for his search. He’s looking for something only one man can give him– Alan, a bit of a sadist. He gets off from making Dorian suffer, in a really loving way. That sounds odd, but once you read Make Me Soar, you know what I’m talking about. Dorian needs it, the being kept on the edge, denied pleasure, until he can let go and feel. I can honestly say I never read such a good book about a sadist, about someone who likes to see someone suffer, but loves him on the other side and does it for his partner as well.

What was a bit stange for me was that Alan started very soon after Dorian got hurt to play with him. I understood why it was necesary, but for me, it was rushed. In my eyes, he would’ve needed more time to heal, come to terms with what happened. He gets some time, but it still felt rushed.

Review: Damian’s Discipline by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams (Collars and Cuffs #5)

DamiansDisciplineLGThis book wasn’t what I expected. I somehow thought Jeff would come to love submission, but boy, was I wrong. This story is different, but a good different. The whole concept of Domestic Discipline isn’t mine, but I understood why it worked so well in this story.

Jeff is someone who get’s another chance, when he’s given up all hope, but there are times when he stumbles and falls. There are times when the demons win, when he can’t go on.
Damian keeps his cool (at least on the outside) and he helps Jeff come to understand that he is a good man. He helps him to love himself again and understands in the process what kind of Dom he is (or isn’t)

Review: A Dance with Domination by K.C. Wells (Collars and Cuffs)

DancewithDomination[A]LGI needed some time to warm up the the characters, not because they weren’t likeable, but because they hadn’t appeared (much) in the other books, but it was hot and I loved it. It’s thrilling with the danger Andrew finds himself in, and Gareth’s submission is just breathtaking. As is his dance… (Nope, not spoiling here). Read it for yourself.

Yes, this is a short review, but I said everything I wanted to say. 🙂

Review: Someone to Keep Me by K.C. Wells and Parker Williams

SomeonetoKeepMeLGBen isn’t exactly looking for a submissive, but when Scott falls into his life, he simply can’t walk away. The young man needs help, and he needs a place to stay. With Ben to be precise. What I didn’t expect was for Ben to be so stubbornly proud. There are occassions when you have to swallow your pride and accept help. Ben hasn’t learned it before, but he will have to, if he wants to keep Scott in his life. They grow together, as Dom and sub and as couple.

Scott never experienced love or apprival from his parents, so he seeks it elsewhere. His decision to come to the UK is stupid, but understandable. It’s his luck Ben finds him in time. With his Dom, he finds everything he yearned for–and more.

I had to resist the urge to yell at my e-reader a couple of times, especially when Ben was too blind to see what was going on, but that only means I was engrossed in the story.

Review: Trusting Thomas by K.C. Wells (Collars and Cuffs #2)

TrustingThomasLGRescued from an abusive man, Peter needs some time to trust again, but when he does, it’s beautiful. The 30-year age gap isn’t my personal favorite, since it’s just soooo big, but it worked well in this story. Peter is a beautful young man and it’s awesome to see him grow and find joy agian.

Thomas on the other side is a strong character who’s still insecure like everyone else. He’s understandable, easy to like and just pleasant to read about. I’m just glad this series has a few more books to come, so I can read more about this adorable couple.

The pace is much slower than in An Unlocked Heart, but it fits the characters perfectly.

Christmas is a time for goodwill to all, but Collars and Cuffs co-owner Thomas Williams receives an unexpected gift that chills him to the bone. A Dom from another Manchester club asks Thomas for his help rescuing an abused submissive, Peter Nicholson. Thomas takes in the young man as a favor to a friend, offering space and time to heal, but he makes it clear he’s never had a sub and doesn’t want one.

Peter finds Thomas’s home calm and peaceful, but his past has left him unwilling to trust another Dom. When Thomas doesn’t behave as Peter expects, Peter’s nightmares begin to fade, and he decides he’d like to learn more about D/s life. A well-known trainer of submissives, Thomas begins to teach Peter, but as the new submissive opens up to him, Thomas finds he cares more for Peter than he should. Just as he decides it’s time to find a permanent Dom for Peter, they discover Peter’s tormentor is still very much a threat. With their lives in danger, Thomas can’t deny his feelings for Peter any longer. The question now becomes, can Peter make it out of the lions’ den alive, so that Thomas can tell his boy that he loves him?

Pages or Words: 48,000 words

Categories: M/M Romance, Menage/Poly, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy

Excerpt:

Ushna was out of the car and greeting his parents before I unbuckled the seatbelt. Hami wasn’t as tall as his son but he was wide, very wide, barrel-chested with a set of deltoids on him the size of small children. His dark hair was cut above the ears and I’d never seen the man without at least three days growth of facial hair. It looked good on him. That kind of scruff made me resemble a bum.

Donya was tall and lean, one of those women who had a natural sway when she walked. Her blue-black hair fell to her waist in thick glossy waves. Her skin was a deep almond, darker than her husband’s or son’s, and her bright, emerald-green eyes were large and expressive.

They both greeted Ushna with festive exuberance, and why not? I’d kept him away from them for a very long time. I observed them for a moment over the hood of the SUV. Hami picked his son up in a bear hug, laughing loud and boisterous. Donya took his face between her palms as she gazed deeply into his bi-colored eyes—eyes that were forever changed by me. At that thought, I wondered how they truly perceived me. My stomach rolled with anxiety-induced queasiness.

With all the grace of someone my size, I made my way into the house, leaving Ushna to his family reunion. I had hoped we wouldn’t see them until after the children were born. I’d entered the home stretch of my pregnancy. Even with the ring of illusion, I had a hard time hiding my condition. Early in my pregnancy, Gregori had fashioned a ring of magic, creating the illusion that hid my continually growing stomach and constructed a normal appearance.

A pregnant male wasn’t something we wanted to explain to humans. With the looming threat of assassination, if my identity was discovered, we thought it best to continue to keep my birthright a secret until after the children were born. So I’d continue to wear the illusion even though the ring wasn’t much help now. The giveaway was in the walk and the way I stood. People could see there was something different by how I held my body and it couldn’t be helped. I was able to hurry, in spurts, and then I lumbered like an elephant—very National Geographic.

Neesie followed me into the kitchen. She was dressed differently than what I’d become accustomed to. Gone were the combat boots, black jeans, and white tees. She wore a pale blue silk blouse, a pinstriped pencil skirt, and knee-high black stiletto boots. She appeared fierce in a whole new way.

“Why didn’t you wait and greet Ushna’s parents?” she asked.

With a plate in hand, I inspected the cold cuts tray that sat on the kitchen counter. I was starved and wanted something quick to eat before everyone came in. When I didn’t answer Neesie, she took the plate from me and started placing fresh vegetables on it.

“I thought I’d give them some time to catch up,” I finally replied. It wasn’t a complete lie. “They haven’t had their son to themselves in quite some time. They don’t need me hanging out in the background.”

Neesie pinned me with her golden-brown gaze. “That is such bullshit and you know it. What’s the real issue?”

I quirked a smile at her. “You know I love ya?”

“Yes, and you’re the one who called me for dating advice because you suck at subtle. Your ‘hey moron, get your hands off my sister‘ ranked right up there.”

“I can’t help it if Mr. Octopus Arms was oblivious to his audience.”

“Go ahead and keep playing that song because I know you still refer to him as Lonnie Fucking-Fowler. Before you walked into the house, your face turned green and you practically sprinted in here.”

“Ahh, stampede!” I gave mock crowd screams. Neesie was not impressed.

“Spill, jackass.” She shoved a full plate into my hands and a chair under my ass. Neesie glared at me but her expression was filled with concern.

“Fine, you tyrant. I wanted to make a good impression. I wanted to be able to show them that I am a strong partner and worthy of their son’s love and devotion. But right now I’m huge, and miserable, and swollen, and hungry. Why did you give me carrots? You know I hate carrots. You’re trying to torture me, aren’t you? I’m an elephant, not a rabbit. I get like peanuts or something, not Bugs Bunny hand-me-downs.” I threw the carrot at my cackling sister. The woman was not remorseful.

“Tristan.”

I threw another carrot at Neesie before turning to see who called for me. I swallowed a curse as I faced Donya. She stood in the doorway, her large green eyes soft and liquid as she searched my expression.

“Ma’am?” Embarrassingly, my voice cracked like I was fourteen years old.

“How can we not be proud of you, son?” Donya crossed the room in a smooth glide and gently took me in her arms. “We’ve always been proud of you, Tristan, don’t ever believe differently.” Tentatively I embraced her in return and ignored Neesie’s sniffles.

Review:

The story about Tristan and Ushna continues, and Lexi manages (again) to pull us into their world. The fight gets even harder, and finally, Ushna and Tristan find their third. I won’t say more, but there is a lot of fight in there, a lot of hot sex and of course, babies! (yes, mean, I know, but just go read for yourself. You won’t regret it.)

It’s well written and you shouldn’t miss it. But, you need to have read the other ones first, otherwise you won’t have any idea what the book is about.

About the author:

Lexi has always been an avid reader, and at a young age started reading (secretly) her mother’s romances (the ones she was told not to touch). She was the only teenager she knew of who would be grounded from reading. Later, with a pencil and a note book, she wrote her own stories and shared them with friends because she loved to see their reactions. A Texas transplant, Lexi now kicks her boots up in the Midwest with her Yankee husband and her eighty-pound puppies named after vacuum cleaners.

My Review: Top Me Maybe? by Jay Northcote

TMM _CoverI received an ARC and read it immediately, but I just didn’t get around writing my review.
Jay managed to do one thing a lot of writers struggle with: she puts enough feeling into a short story to connect and feel with the MCs, even if there’s not much space to do this. In short, a hot story for a lunch reak (although I don’t recommend reading it when you have to get back to work afterwards ;))

I loved the MCs, I loved the setting and I loved, of course, the hot sex. Absolutely recommended read.

A few words of warning, though: If you’re looking for a novel with a lot of character development, this is not the book for you. Also, if you have a problem with short stories, since they are short: don’t buy it.
But if you want a hot afternoon interlude, then you’ll want to get yourself a copy. Enjoy

My Review: Love Spell by Mia Kerick

Photo-2My Review: Mia Kerick’s love spell is something different. I’m not used to YA, so this might have influenced  my views on this story as well. (But not in a bad way!!)

Chance is a character who’s a bit hard to understand because of his gender questions. He’s searching so hard to find a label for himself, he totally loses who he is. He doesn’t fit into a box, and that’s what is making him even more lovable. I admit I had the strong urge to hug him and tell him he’s beautiful the way he is. (and, just for the record, I’m using the pronoun ‘he’ freely here. Chance doesn’t fit into a gender box, and I mean absolutely no disrespect when using ‘he’ here.)

The struggles Chance goes through every day, the questions about his gender, his box, are sometimes really painful to read, but then, so are Chance’s attempts to make Jazz fall in love with him. He just doesn’t realize the most important point in the whole article about making a man fall in love with you. (no, I’m not telling what that is, I don’t want to spoil anything). It takes nearly losing everything before he realizes his mistakes.

A sweet Coming of Age story, even if Chance’s self doubts are hard to read sometimes.

My Review: The Altered 2 by Annabelle Jacobs

TheAltered2-final2-RGB (1)My Review: I really looked forward to Annabelle’s second book in the Lycanaeris series and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s not as high tension as the first book, but it finally reveals what’s up with Sam and Ash.

Ash has a lot of stuff to work through, and Annabelle does a really good job to bring over his feelings and fears. Sam can’t deal with being human after he’s been a wolf for so long, but for Ash, he’ll work through emotions that were muted while he was in his shifted form. These two have a lot of obstacles to overcome, until they have their happy end and the hot sex. Don’t forget about the hot, rough shifter sex. Yep.

So, a solid five star read for me (and not just because of the sex. 🙂 )
