Being a native German speaker, I started translating quite a few years ago. I love using my knowledge of writing to bring stories to life in different language, making sure every scene conveys the same emotions as it does in the original book. I also love the intense research I sometimes need to do. I’ve set up American Football fields on my desk to be able to describe how the character moves (I also watched a bunch of youtube videos), I’ve discovered you can’t translate American Sign Language to German Sign Language because of how the languages are set up (GSL uses way more facial expressions and body language, while ASL relies heavy on hand/finger signs. Translating that would’ve meant rewriting a lot of the story because the characters would’ve had to move differently). One of my most favorite researches included orcas and dolphins and their mating behavoir. (Did you know France had to close a beach a while back because a male dolphin was harassing swimmers, trying to use them to get off? Also, when in captivity, they apparently tend to try to mate everything, like turtles, moray eels (cudos to them!), divers cleaning their tanks and … drainage pipes. Seriously. Yes, I laughed at that one! They also do that in the wild, so it’s not even necessary related to being in captivity. LOL
Anyway, as you can see, I do extensive research to make sure your book will be as close to perfect as it can be.
I work with different authors from different genres (M/M, M/F, M/F/MM and so on). My portfolio includes books from bestselling authors like Nora Phoenix, Lucy Lennox, Sloane Kennedy, Kelex, Jill Ramsower, Grae Bryan, E.L. Todd, Victoria Quinn, Penelope Sky, Natasha Knight, Kiki Clark and others.
I’m comfortable with about every genre, pairing and kink, however, I’m not translating anything without a happy ending, and I’m not a fan of horror and really, really high fantasy. (The usual shifters, omegaverse and so on are completely fine and VERY welcome!)
Thanks to my awesome editors and proofers (love you guys!!) I’m able to deliver the books ready to publish. Of course, you’re welcome to hire a different proofer to read over the manuscripts after I deliver them. You just don’t *have* to.
I’m accepting new authors for 2025 and 2026! If you’re interested in working with me, please email me at: chrismchart(a)gmail.com
Thank you.
What others are saying:
I love Chris! She’s awesome actually. She is reliable, she is good and she is fast. I trust her so completely that I would absolutely recommend. – Natasha Knight

The quality of the language is outstanding, which is unfortunately a rarity on Amazon these days. Review of Tank (Leather & Chrome 1) by Kiki Clark (See the full review in German here. Disclaimer: 4 stars because of too much steamy scenes, which I will NOT take the blame for!! But hey, it was fun to translate!)
The translation of the book is well done and didn’t change the story or the author’s writing style. Good thing, because the book was already awesome in English, and now it’s just as awesome in German. Kingdom Fall – Der Niedergang des Königs is and will always be one of my all-time favorite books, and I totally recommend it. Review of Der Niedergang des Königs by A. Zavarelli.
