Blurb:

Jack Carmichael’s natural instinct is to take care of people. In his job as a U.S. Marshal, he has done that for 25 years. Unfortunately, being married to his job has left his love life in tatters. Now classified unfit for duty, he retires and comes home to Colorado to figure things out. Dominant and used to taking control like his brother Brent, he has never been interested in spanking. Until a cute Nurse Practitioner catches his attention.

Josh Martin feels lucky. He’s not only accepted into Corbin’s Bend, but he’ll be working at the brand new Corbin’s Bend Medical Clinic as its only Nurse Practitioner. At thirty-two, he figures this is his last-ditch attempt at finding a dominant partner who isn’t abusive. He finds more than his share of dominant men in Corbin’s Bend, not the least of which are the Carmichael brothers. Brent’s dominance is both comforting and unnerving, Jack’s turns him on.

Josh is unlike any submissive male Jack has encountered and when the younger man asks him out, he decides to give it a go. One day of fun turns into two, three…until Jack, with more failed relationships than he can count in his past and unsure he can be the head of house Josh needs, leaves, burying himself once again in work. Forced to see the error of his decision, he puts aside the worries that have plagued him for months and returns to Corbin’s Bend. To become the good family man he wants to be, he has to earn back Josh’s trust and truly take on a role he’s never considered before: head of a loving discipline household.

Leaping from his current spot, he landed on one of the pads down below, reveling in feeling alive for the first time in months. After chalking up his hands, he turned toward the man next to him who was stretching out his arms and gazing up at a particularly evil looking angle. “When do you have to go home?”

Looking over at him, for a moment Josh looked unsure of himself and finally he smiled, a cute dimple showing in his left cheek. “When I’m done. I didn’t actually forget anything. I just wanted to see you and, well, see if there was anything there.”

Grinning, Jack nodded as he looked at his watch. “Well, then. What do you think about dinner and possibly dancing later on at Tracks?”

Josh’s eyes practically popped out of his head. “I love Tracks! There’s a great bistro nearby. What do you say we meet there in…” He looked at his wristwatch. “Two hours? Then hit the club after?” The grin on his face would have been impossible to resist even if Jack had wanted to.

Blurb:

Victor Kalinski, all-star forward for the Boston Barracudas, is one of the biggest jerks in professional hockey. Before long his aggressive attitude gets him shipped off to play in the minor leagues.

Furious, he takes to the ice with equal amounts of skill and scathing sarcasm, which doesn’t win him any friends—except for good-natured alternate captain Daniel Arou. He won’t take any of Vic’s crap, and he won’t take no for an answer.

But Vic’s troublemaking is pulling his career one way while Dan’s talent is pushing his in the other. However much they scorch the sheets, they might soon be separated by more than Vic’s fear of being hurt.

Inside Scoop: This book contains scorching gay sex and a heaping helping of no-holds-barred snark between hot hockey heroes who don’t pull their punches.

Excerpt:

Have you ever just watched someone sleep and been petrified and appreciative simultaneously? I know how totally stalker that sounds, but it wasn’t like “I’m a glittery vampire who sits here and watches some underage chick sleeping” weird. Okay, maybe it was a little bit of that kind of weird. I mean, I was lying beside Dan, admiring the hills and valleys of his back as the sun caressed his tanned flesh. His skin was smooth but clammy. The blankets were tangled around his legs. He slept just like he went through life—with energy. His thrashing was what had awoken me, as it had a few times during our road trip. Instead of snapping at him then stealing the covers back, I took this time to visually adore his body. Yeah, I was that fond of it. And him. Rest assured, that terrified me no end.

Book Blast, Giveaway, Review: When The Band Came To Town by H. Lewis-Foster

WhenTheBandCameToTown cover

Author Name: H. Lewis-Foster

Book Name: When The Band Came To Town

Release Date: April 8, 2015

Blurb:

In the swinging Sixties, life gets rockin’ for Jeff McInnery when a new band plays at the local pub. Caught up in lead singer Danny Speed’s cool, Jeff sneaks a kiss. But being found out as homosexual could stop Danny’s hot career fast, and even land him in jail. With harsh words, Danny leaves to head for fame and fortune while Jeff starts university. On campus, Jeff meets Archie Ballatine, a history student living as openly as possible. It’s an exciting new world of sex and friendship for Jeff, but then the band comes back to town.

 30,000 words

Categories: Contemporary, Fiction, Gay Fiction, M/M Romance, Romance

My Review:

About the book:
Written in Jeff’s POV, we get a glimpse of gay life in the Sixties. Jeff is a waiter in a pub where Danny’s band plays. He meets the singer after the show and kisses him. But Danny rejects him, calling him vile words.
Jeff is afraid he’ll be outed to his family and friends now, and counts the days until he can leave for collage. There he meets Archie, a fellow student. They start having sex regularly, although it’s more like friends with benefits than being lovers.
The story unfolds, Jeff meets Danny again, but he needs to be Danny’s little secret if he wants to keep seeing him. Being outed as gay wouldn’t only destroy Danny’s career, it’d bring both of them to jail.
Jeff has to decide. He can’t be Danny’s boyfriend. And to stay in the shadows, always hide, always deny who he is? Can he do that? Does he want to do that?
And then there’s another man, someone who’s been there for him.

My Thoughts: This is a sweet story from the Sixties. I like H.’s writing style, and the story has a twist I hadn’t anticipated. H. met me in a pub in the Sixties and took me for a ride through the time. Jeff is just like the boy next door, Archie is as flamboyant as possible, and Danny-well, Rockstars are Rockstars.

The only thing I would’ve wished for was a longer story with more character development, but that can just be a personal preference.

In other words, a good read, I liked it.

4 **** of 5 stars

*I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review*

Excerpt:

“So what’ll you be studying?”

Jeff prepared for the usual perplexed reaction when he gave his answer. “Philosophy, would you believe? God knows what I’ll do with my degree when I’ve finished.”

“You’ll fathom the secrets of the universe, Jeff.” Danny sounded utterly serious as he stubbed out his cigarette in an ashtray. Then he broke into a grin. “Now come and have a dance.”

“What?” Jeff was sure Danny must be taking the piss.

“You heard me.” Danny stepped onto the dance floor and was soon moving to the music. His hips were twisting, his knees bending, and his backside gyrating in an unbearably provocative way. “Or do philosophers not lower themselves to such things?”

The Fenestration Penetration

By Amy Lane

Steve Gillian, UPS driver, sort of loved his job.

It wasn’t that he got to keep his long-limbed, rangy body fit, but that was a nice side effect.  He ran his ass off every time he stopped his truck and leapt out, very aware that he could be observed by Corporate on any given day.

It wasn’t that usually, when people got packages, they were happy with what they got—although that was a plus. Even if he was delivering urns with ashes in them, there was at least a sense of relief, of “Oh thank God, that’s where Grandma went! We can put her on the mantelpiece now!” and sometimes, there was more. Sometimes there was “Oh my God! My dad bought me season tickets to the Kings game!” or “WootThe shoes I ordered that might not make my feet hurt like a sonofabitch have finally arrived! I’m so happy!” Or even, “Aw, my husband sent me flowers!”

He had to admit, those made his day—but they weren’t really the reason he loved his job.

The real reason he loved his job was that he got to look in lots of windows.

Not in the dirty, pervy way (at least not usually), but in the flight-of-fancy way. He would walk by a window and see, say, a kid’s destroyed room, and he’d wonder what it would be like to have a kid who wore the Darth Vader costume and the bunny costume and the princess dress. And then he’d wonder if there were two kids in that room. Or if the boychild was gay or the girlchild trans, or vice versa. And then he’d imagine what that conversation would be like when said child grew up enough to talk to parents. Would there be a fight? Would the parents be happy? Would there be social awareness? Or would there be fights, heartbreak, and broken homes?

Steve was mostly a happy guy—he was always rooting for the happy parents and the social awareness, so he’d imagine that, and then he’d move on to the next house. Look at that living room—see that hand-knitted doily on the back of the corduroy recliner? Was there an elderly woman in there? Was she widowed? Did her children come talk to her and play cards? Grandchildren? Did she teach them how to cook? How to knit? Did she pass on the secrets of the ages? Or was she like that horrible old harpy he delivered to once who greeted him with “It’s about damned time!” and sent him on his way with “If you got paid by delivery, you fuckers wouldn’t stand around all day picking your asses!”

Again, he was rooting for the happy granny, the type he had, who had greeted his news of coming out with a serene smile and a request for help with her fashion.

“I’m sorry, Grandma—I really don’t know clothing brands. Mostly I just keep in shape so I can get laid.” (Well, he’d been in college at the time.)

About the authors:

Amy Lane

Amy Lane has two kids in college and two kids in soccer, and four fur-babies up in her business as she writes. She, her Mate, and her brood live in a crumbling crap mansion and squander their funds on movies, travel, and joy.

Angel Martinez

While Angel Martinez is the erotic fiction pen name of a writer of several genres, she writes both kinds of gay romance – Science Fiction and Fantasy. Currently living part time in the hectic sprawl of northern Delaware, (and full time inside the author’s head) Angel has one husband, one son, two cats, a changing variety of other furred and scaled companions, a love of all things beautiful and a terrible addiction to the consumption of both knowledge and chocolate.

Elin Gregory

Elin Gregory lives in South Wales and has been making stuff up since 1958. Writing has always had to take second place to work and family but now the kids are grown up it’s possible she might finish one of the many novels on her hard drive and actually DO something useful with it.

Historical subjects predominate. She has written about ancient Greek sculptors, 18th century seafarers but also about modern men who change shape at will and how echoes of the past can be heard in the present. Heroes tend to be hard as nails but capable of tenderness when circumstances allow.

There are always new works on the go and she is currently editing a novel about spies in the 1920s, finishing one set in 6th century AD England and contemplating one about the Second World War. Any excuse to buy more books!

Freddy MacKay

Freddy grew up in the Midwest, playing sports and running around outside. And honestly, that much has not changed since Freddy was small and throwing worms at other kids, expect worm throwing has been replaced with a healthy geocaching addiction. Freddy enjoys traveling and holds the view a person should continually to learn about new things and people whenever possible.

Freddy’s contemporary LGBTQ book, Incubation: Finding Peace 2, won 3rd Place – Best Gay Erotic Fiction in the 2012 Rainbow Awards. In 2013, Freddy’s story, Internment, tied for 3rd Place – Best Gay Fantasy in the Rainbow Awards. Freddy’s steampunk/SF story, Feel Me, was a Finalist and honorable mention in the 2014 Rainbow Awards for SF.

JC Wallace

JC “Jake” Wallace started writing from a young age, but took a break for marriage, kids, and college (in that order). A few years ago, he rediscovered his passion and ventured out into the brave new world of publishing. He now has several novels and short stories published. At night and on the weekends, Jake writes about all things men, believing there is nothing hotter than two men finding and loving one another, whether for a night or forever. An avid reader of M/M romance, Jake loves a good twist of a plot, HEA, HFN, or tragic ending. He also writes what his bestie calls HUNK (Happy Until the Next Kidnapping). In his daytime hours, Jake works with individuals with autism and behavior problems. He is owned by a beautiful partner, three kids, two grandchildren, two dogs and one cat. He lives in the Adirondack Mountains in Northern NY.

Tali Spencer

Tali Spencer fell in love with writing at an early age and never stopped. Thanks to a restless father, she grew up as a bit of a nomad and still loves to travel whenever she can. Her longest stint in one place was Milwaukee where she went to college, enjoyed a series of interesting careers, and raised three surprisingly well-adjusted sons. She later married her true love and put down new roots in Philadelphia, where she lives in an ongoing Italian American family sitcom. At least she’s learned how make good pasta. When not writing, Tali reads everything from sweet goofy romances to medical research, manages her fantasy football team—go Gekkos!—and takes long walks with her loving, if slightly neurotic, poodle.

Tinnean

Tinnean has been writing since the 3rd grade, where she was inspired to try her hand at epic poetry. Fortunately, that epic poem didn’t survive the passage of time; however, her love of writing not only survived but thrived, and in high school she became a member of the magazine staff, where she contributed a number of stories.

It was with the advent of the family’s second computer – the first intimidated everyone – that her writing took off, enhanced in part by fanfiction, but mostly by the wonder that is copy and paste.

While involved in fandom, she was nominated for both Rerun and Light My Fire Awards. Now she concentrates on her original characters, and recent novels have received honorable mention in the 2013 and 2014 Rainbow Awards.

A New Yorker at heart, she resides in SW Florida with her husband and two computers.

Ernest Hemingway’s words reflect Tinnean’s devotion to her craft: Once writing has become your major vice and greatest pleasure, only death can stop it

BookBlast, Giveaway: Never Too Early: Finding Their Way by Chris Owen and Tory Temple

Author Name: Chris Owen and Tory Templente-findingtheirway1400-2

Book Name: Never Too Early: Finding Their Way

Series: Never Too Early Book Two

Should not be read as a standalone

Release Date: April 15, 2015

Blurb: When Jake Taggart fell from the roof of his barn, Tor had only one thought — to reach out to Chance Shanahan and Tucker McBride for support. In this follow-up to Never Too Early: The Beginning, the first book in the Cowboy/Firefighter series, the two couples are reunited in their mutual concern for Jake. But how far will that concern go?

A strong friendship begins to explore the boundaries of something else; something all four men never looked for or expected. Emotions and attraction are difficult to deny, try as they might, but giving in has the potential to destroy everything both couples have worked so hard for. How will they handle something that none of them set out to find?

Pages or Words: 54,000 words

Categories: Contemporary, Erotica, Fiction, Gay Fiction, M/M Romance, Menage/Poly, Cowboy, Romance

600x600Banner-2 Excerpt: Jake reached out and touched the back of Chance’s hand. “Thank you for coming all this way to be with me. Thank you for coming to sit next to me, and for helping Tor. Thank you for everything you and Tucker have done around here, but mostly thank you for being someone I can count on.” Jake nodded firmly and looked up into Chance’s face, studying his eyes. “Thanks for caring so much.”
Chance’s gaze was steady and direct. “I didn’t mean to,” he said quietly. “I thought you were a good guy, that’s all. I thought you were nice and funny and smart and easy to talk to. I didn’t mean for there to be more than that.”
Jake nodded. “I know. We all know. But there is, and I’m okay with that. Thankful for it, really. And so is Tor. And Tucker sent me upstairs to talk to you, and said not to let you overthink it.” He smiled, trying not to shake with nerves. “So sit down here next to me and stop thinking.”

About the author: Chris Owen: I live and write in eastern Canada. I went to a bunch of schools, learned a lot of things, and now make stuff up because not to do so is unthinkable. I’m fond of fountain pens, Levenger’s Circa system, and Steampunk fashions. Lately I’ve been watching a lot of Discovery channel. I’ve seen every episode of CSI Las Vegas and New York, but I’m not terribly keen on CSI Miami. It might be due to weather envy. I have a crush on the whole cast of Criminal Minds, and fondness for wool. The two are not related. Hoarders keeps me honest. I’m inspired by the day to day minutia of life, and find beauty in the way words go together. I like texture and richness of experience. I’m not shy. I’m happy, I’m learning, I’m living.

Tory Temple: Tory lives and works in southern California, where she spends a lot of time around firemen. She visits the beach frequently and wears flip flops even in the winter. Tory likes television, salted pistachios in the shell, and chenille socks. She dislikes cauliflower, not being able to find the right shoes in the morning, and not having enough free time. She shares her space with numerous pets, including but not limited to cats, dogs, and tortoises. Badge-3

BookBlast, Giveaway, Review: The Altered by Annabelle Jacobs

TheAltered-f

Author Name: Annabelle Jacobs

Book Name: The Altered

Release Date: April 9, 2015

Blurb:   Twenty years ago the UK’s water supply was contaminated with an experimental pathogen, Lycanaeris, causing widespread panic across the nation. Terrorism was suspected but never proven, and when nothing happened–no epidemic, no unexplained illnesses–the whole episode was written off as an elaborate hoax. But Lycanaeris was selective. Only those of a certain age, and with a specific gene in their DNA were infected. Time would reveal the pathogen’s true nature, when those susceptible grew up Altered.

Daniel is one of thousands forced to hide his altered status by living a quiet life. He’s not like the others, though. Daniel can’t help looking so distinctive or being able to see every altered for what they really are. To those abducting altereds, that skill makes him valuable.

For Jordan, shifting from human to wolf means living under the radar to avoid unwanted attention. Meeting Daniel complicates matters. Daniel’s existence is a threat to Jordan and his friends, but Jordan can’t seem to shake the strange connection between them. When danger threatens, there’s little time for Daniel and Jordan to work out their feelings before lives are at stake.

Pages or Words: 209 pages, 75,000 words

Categories: M/M Romance, Paranormal

My Review:

Both Daniel and Jordan never believed in mates, but there’s a pull between them that’s way too strong to ignore. It practically forces them together. That doesn’t mean it’s easy for them. There are misunderstandings, jealousy, and close friends that don’t like strangers in their middle (and have a good reason for that).

Jason and Daniel have to overcome a lot of obstacles, on top of being hunted for what they are. They need to stand together, convince their friends that neither of them is dangerous and fight for their lives.

Starting with the first scene, the book took me in and didn’t let me go. In addition, the sex was hot, just enough roughness and shifter in it to be erotic beyond everything.  But this book has much more to offer than that. Read it.

I’ll be waiting impatiently for the second book.

5 ***** Stars out of 5

*I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review*

Excerpt: He laughed at the joke Matt was in the middle of telling, chipping in for a bit and teasing him, and then he felt it again, creeping up the back of his spine like icy fingers. Daniel stayed perfectly still, suppressing his body’s natural reaction, and carefully turned to place his empty pint glass on the bar. He let his gaze wander along to the end of the bar, past the couple he’d spotted earlier, and— Bloody Hell. He sucked in a sharp breath before he could stop himself. Usually he got a flash of images, depending on how much they’d been altered—claws, teeth, and fur if they changed fully, but never anything like this. One minute Daniel was looking at a tall dark-haired, really hot man, and in the blink of an eye he’d changed into a huge black wolf, fangs bared in a snarl—clearer than anything he’d seen before. The image vanished almost as soon as it appeared, and the noise from the bar suddenly jarred Daniel back to his senses. Fuck.
