Blog Tour: N.J. Nielsen with Heart-mate, Mine!

Thanks to N.J. Nielsen for stopping by today!

(FP) MR 2 - Heart-mate, Mine!

Blurb:

Two lives–One destiny. When fate decides two people belong together, nothing can stand in its way. Liam Kantry and Carlo Bruenelli find themselves caught up in the madness of Christmas and taking care of a child as they discover the meaning of being true heart-mates.

Liam Kantry wants to be with the man he has loved his whole life, yet incessant gossip and innuendos have labelled him the pack whore–a point he has never disputed. Now the rumours have come back to bite him in the arse.

Carlo Bruenelli is waiting for his heart-mate; he’s one of the pack who truly believes they really do exist. In his heart he wants it to be his best friend, only problem is he knows Liam doesn’t believe in heart-mates. What will it take to change Liam’s mind? And should he even try?

Christmas is drawing near, and between snowball fights and the inter-pack gathering, Liam and Carlo find themselves caught up in the excitement and obsessing over what their future holds. Especially when a small child forms a bond with them. They learn there is more out there than they ever dreamt was possible.

Can Liam and Carlo work around the newness of their own mating to protect someone who needs it most?

CONTENT ADVISORY: This work is a significantly expanded (almost tripled in length), re-edited re-release title.

Excerpt:

Everyone had a fear, and Carlo’s was probably no different to anyone else’s. His fear involved running into the love of his life, Liam Kantry, and being ignored completely. Liam often starred in Carlo’s nightly dreams of who his heart-mate should look like, yet sadly Liam only ever looked at him like an annoying, dorky, younger brother–a brother you didn’t want hanging around all the time. Usually, it was hard to avoid him since they belonged to the same pack. Thoughts like these had been plaguing him for the last month or so leading up to this special week.

The Moon Runner Pack had been chosen to host the inter-pack meet-and-greet on their lands where guests from other packs would be coming in hope of finding a mate. Most people didn’t believe in heart-mates. Carlo was truly one of the few in the pack who actually believed heart-mates existed. Somewhere out there’s the perfect person looking for me. A tingle of excitement surged through him at the mere possibility of it being true. I’m twenty-one. I’m finally old enough to attend the party. Let’s hope he’s here and just as eager to meet me. Wish it could be Liam, but wouldn’t we have known by now if we were? Hopefully Christmas Day I’ll have pushed aside my crush on Liam Kantry and I’ll know whether or not my heart-mate is out there searching for me as well–that is, if he even comes to the gathering. My luck, he won’t even bother turning up.

Man, he hoped he was wrong and his heart-mate existed in the here and now, waiting to meet him as well. Never once had he doubted that his future mate would be a male. Fate wouldn’t be so cruel to pair him with a woman he could never really love. Being mated to a female wouldn’t be fair to either of them. If it came down to his mate being someone who wasn’t male, he’d simply explain everything to her and let her find someone else she could be happy with. Carlo had even heard that this year there were packs coming to attend from even farther afield than usual. This gathering also became the time new alliances were made between packs, where packs could ask another for help in any way. Bloodshed was frowned upon at these gatherings, but sometimes it became unavoidable–or so he’d been told.

The alpha had asked him, because it was his first time, to become involved this year by being seen at the meeting hall, not hiding away from the pack like he usually did. Apparently all members of the pack who had come of age and were eligible to attend were asked to help out. So here he was now, wet as all get-go–because he’d only moments before slipped and landed in a puddle as he tried to dodge a car on the street outside the hall. Dripping wet, he grumbled as he walked through the falling snow toward the last place he wanted to be–the pack town hall. Carlo hoped to avoid everything until the starting ceremony itself, but Darian and the alpha had nixed that thought early on. The plain truth was he didn’t want to have to be anywhere he’d have to bear witness to Liam flirting with other people. Carlo was a coward, and he knew it. He wasn’t disputing the fact at all. As he neared the building, the noise coming from within sounded muted, but still loud in a raucous kind of way.

Carlo waved to a couple leaving the crowded room as he entered. He didn’t know them, but he thought it would be a polite and friendly gesture to the wolves who’d be arriving to stay with the Moon Runner pack over the next few days. He didn’t even complain much when Sally Anne Meyers, the alpha’s younger sister, made him strip out of his outer layers before she allowed him to step foot inside the door.

She’d joked, “If you were smarter, you’d strip in time to the music and make yourself a little money on the side.” Her laughter sounded light, and Carlo knew she wasn’t being mean. Being twenty-one herself, she probably also found herself being forced to be sociable. Unlike him, Sally Anne actually liked being the centre of attention, especially if it garnered the interest of a certain pack member. According to Marcus, the pack gossip, Sally Anne had set her sights on Wade Michelson this year. She’d chosen him as her mate and she’d do anything to get what she wanted.

“The only problem is they’d make me pay the money back with interest once they saw me naked,” he replied, snickering before he handed her the wet clothes.

“Go sit by the fire and I’ll call your mum to bring you some dry clothes. We wouldn’t want all your lovely bits and pieces to fall off, now would we?

What the fuck? Is she flirting with me? “Are you trying to get my arse beat? If you keep that talk up, you’ll make Wade crazy jealous and he’ll come after me.”

“Hah! That big galoot wouldn’t know which end faced up if someone didn’t tell him.” There seemed to be no heat in her words.

“I thought you were determined to be his mate?” Carlo asked, curious as he saw the glint of something in her eye.

She waved him away. “He’s mine. He just doesn’t know it yet. His days of sleeping around are over.” She sniffed haughtily then burst out laughing. “Go on. Go warm up and I’ll get you some dry clothes. I saw Liam in here earlier–not sure if he’s still here though.”

He gave her one last smile before he did as told. “Thank you.” He wasn’t sure if he thanked her for calling his mum or for letting him know Liam Kantry sat in the hall talking with friends.

The sounds of carols playing through the speakers, combined with happy laughter ringing out were enough to get even the most miserable person into the Christmas spirit. The interior walls had been transformed from their usual drab wooden bareness to having an array of colours splashed across them. The effect was kind of stunning. Whoever had decorated this year had taste.

With all the festivities going on around him, Carlo couldn’t have stopped smiling even if he’d wanted to. He actually loved this time of year–always had. The fact remained he loved everything about Christmas, from the addictive aroma of the baked goods to the scent of the pine trees filling the air, but most of all he loved the feeling of family and everyone being together.

His love of everything Christmas started the year his father gave him his very own sled. That year he’d met Liam Kantry for the first time. He’d also met Liam’s brothers Marcus and Theo. They’d taken turns sharing his sled while riding down the hills out on the back of the pack lands. The day seemed to rush by, none of them coming in until August Kantry, the boys’ father, had come looking for them. On the way home, he’d given them all a lecture on what were safe and unsafe times to stay out playing when their parents were sitting at home and waiting for them.

Christmas was just around the corner and his family was getting ready to celebrate in style. His mother was known by many as a baking fiend when it came to roasts, but no one in the pack came even close to beating Mary Kantry when it came to baking Christmas goodies. She had become a legend among the pack, especially for her Christmas bread. Hell, even just the thought of it had Carlo’s mouth watering. His thoughts came back to the present when he heard an all too familiar voice. Oh great, so Liam really is still here–yippee… not!

Blurb
When Aiden agrees to run the Mad Mucker—a twelve-mile muddy slog over an obstacle course—he’s expecting it to be a bit of a laugh. The training will be tough, but Aiden could use the motivation to regain some fitness.

Matt is the sexy cousin of one of Aiden’s coworkers and a last-minute addition to the team. When he agrees to train with Aiden, Aiden suddenly finds the prospect of regular workouts a lot more appealing.

Soon attraction flares, and they embark on an intense physical relationship. Matt doesn’t want to fall in love with a man, and Aiden doesn’t want to fall in love at all, but despite their insistence on no strings, they grow closer. As the day of the race approaches, time is running out for them to work out how they feel about each other.

Exclusive Excerpt

“So… where do you want me?”

“Sitting on the sofa should work, as long as you can relax your leg.”

“Okay.”

Aiden was wearing loose running shorts that came down to midthigh, so there was no need to take those off. But in the heat of his flat he felt uncomfortably warm with two layers on his top half, so he stripped off the long-sleeved top he had on over a tank. He balled up the top and held it in his lap as he sat, just in case, hoping Matt wouldn’t notice and guess why. At least it was more subtle than using a cushion.

Matt knelt on the floor in front of him, and Aiden’s cock tingled and started to take notice. Aiden was glad he’d put something in his lap, because although Matt didn’t seem completely averse to Aiden’s brand of light flirting, Aiden wasn’t sure Matt was ready for Aiden’s boner sitting up and waving at him. He gripped the fabric in his lap a little tighter and tried to think unsexy thoughts. But it was difficult with six foot something of sexy kneeling right there between his spread legs.

Author Bio

Jay lives just outside Bristol in the West of England, with her husband, two children, and two cats.

She comes from a family of writers, but she always used to believe that the gene for fiction writing had passed her by. She spent years only ever writing emails, articles, or website content. One day, she decided to try and write a short story–just to see if she could–and found it rather addictive. She hasn’t stopped writing since.

Tuesday Tickle over at Kate Lowell’s blog

An exclusive excerpt of Never Wrong waits for you! Don’t miss it!
Kate Lowell’s Blog

My NaNoWriMo project, a sequel to Never Wrong, is also coming along nicely. I’m at 8000 words, which is not much in terms of NaNo, BUT, I finished final edits for Grenzen during that time, too.
I will not win NaNo, but if I can finish Still Not Wrong in November, I’m more than happy!

Never Wrong has been out a couple of days, and yesterday it hit the top 100 in its categories in the UK, GER, and FRANCE!
It has dropped out again, but to just see it in there (it was #46 in Germany) was freaking awesome!
Thank you all who bought it! You are great!

Chris

If you believe that love is never wrong…

…you should check this one out:

Please let me know what you think of it!

IMG_0545.JPG

Dean believes love is never wrong, but is that still true if there’s a twenty-one year age gap?

When Jeff meets the much younger Dean, he only knows he wants him, consequences be damned. But things are not as easy, especially after Jeff’s ex calls and announces big news.

And Dean? He thinks the new neighbor is hot, but he’s not interested in something more than a rebound fuck. That’s what he tells himself, at least.

But lust isn’t a good basis for a relationship, more so since Jeff isn’t sure whether he can deal with being gay.

Love is never wrong, but can Jeff accept that?

In about a week…

…I can call myself a published author. On November, 7th, my very first book will release.

I think it’s time now to show off the cover and share the blurb with you.

NEVER Wrong COver

Blurb:

Jeff was raised to believe love between two men is wrong. Or is it? Can love ever be wrong?

I’ll do quite a few stops at blogs, some with giveaways, so watch out for updates!

Have a good day!

Haunted House of Manlove Flash Hop

Today’s my turn with the Halloween Flash Blog Tour.

A flash about an evening that went a bit spookier than intended. I hope you enjoy it.

1-1-medium_10011607925

A bit spookier

Sebastian watched as three ghosts, one witch, a crocodile, a skeleton and two Spidermen ran towards the next house, which was decorated with pumpkins and candles. Maybe here would be something to get.

He followed the screams of his nieces, nephews and their friends, demanding sweets. They yelled Süßes oder Saures in the face of every apartment owner. The phrase was an adapted version of the American Trick or Treat, but was closer translated as Sweet or Sour.

The first houses hadn’t been really successful, but the little monsters weren’t deterred from their plans for a real Halloween.

The young woman smiled and talked with the kids. Sebastian did a quick headcount, but all the little monsters were still there. Thank God, losing one of them would be hell in the darkness.

The friendly woman was still talking to the little ones and handing out some sweets. The kids had seen a movie about Halloween in the U.S. and were determined to have the same. Despite Sebastian’s claims that it wasn’t that common in Germany, they wanted to try, and it seemed at least a few people anticipated the kids.

Sebastian waited for the children to finish talking and nodded a silent thanks to the woman. He turned around to wait for until the little ones to run ahead to the next house.

A high pitched, loud scream wailed through the night. Fuck. Sebastian whipped around, but didn’t see anything.

Little feet stomped over the dry ground, kicking up dry leaves, rustling them to all sides as the kids came running back to him.

Sebastian looked at their frightened faces. “What’s up? What did you see? A cat?”

“No, something bigger. Like a—a—a ghost.” Marcus, one of the older kids answered.

“A ghost?” Sebastian raised his eyebrows. Marcus and Sven were at least ten years old; they wouldn’t be scared so easily.

“Maybe it just was a shadow?”

The bigger guys shook their heads. The smaller ones looked quite shaken, but didn’t say anything.

Sebastian turned around and looked into the brush again. Nothing. Who knows what they’d seen.

Sebastian shook his head at the kids and led them to the next driveway. They all stayed by his side now.

Something rustled close to them. Sebastian stared intently in the darkness, but he didn’t see anything. “Over here, guys. Maybe we’ll get something here.”

The little monsters ran up to the door and rang, while Sebastian followed in a slower pace. He was in the open now, nothing to hide in the front yard of the house, but he felt like someone watched him.

Sebastian chided himself. Such bullshit. Who’d watch him?

The kids stayed at his side for a couple of houses, but nobody heard anything. At the third house, there was no holding back the little ones and they sprinted forward again.

There. There. Something had moved in the bush over there.

Sebastian’s breath stopped. Damn. What is that?

He exhaled hard. Time to stop being a wuss. He stepped towards the dry branches, trying to spot anything in there. Nothing.

The kids stood around him, frightened expressions on their faces.

“You heard that too, didn’t you?”

“Na. I think there might be a cat following us. That’s all.” He looked around. The little ones didn’t seem to be convinced. Not even slightly, to be precise.

“Come on, guys. Let’s go to the next house, see if they know what Halloween is.”

“Yeah, that’s Frau Meier, she’s very nice.”

“You know her?” Sebastian asked Marcus.

“I’m living a couple of houses over there. Of course I know her.”

At least he saved the “duh” that his tone implied. Some of the kids were from around here, while two of his nieces were from further away. His nephews lived two streets away, so he shouldn’t be surprised to hear their friends were from all around here.

Sebastian looked back in the direction Marcus had pointed. It was the house where they’d gotten a lot of sweets.

“Okay, let’s get going.” Sebastian motivated the kids to get out of the front yard again, but they’d lost some of their urge to run and stayed closer to his side.

“Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh…aaaaaahhhhhhh…”

Sebastian froze. His heart stopped beating. FUCK! That definitely came from the overgrown yard that was next on their tour.

The kids looked in the direction the sound had originated, their expressions horrified.

“That’s—nothing. Absolutely nothing,” Sebastian stammered, over the pulse pounding in his ears.

“But—there. That was—what was that?”

“I don’t know. An—an owl, maybe?”

The kids didn’t look convinced.

“Come on, we’ll try the next house.”

The kids stayed close on the way to the next house. Sebastian reached in his pocket to pull out his phone. Maybe he should call the police.

It wouldn’t hurt to watch the things a couple of houses and then maybe call after he dropped off all the kids at their home. If he made the call now, whatever it was would hear him.

They went into he next yard, this one pretty overgrown and dark.

Something moved. A shadow. Sebastian squinted his eyes. Something rustled.

“Uuuuuuuhhhhhh”

“W-w-w-what w-w-w-was t-t-t-that?” Sven was very much white around the nose.

“I’m going to call the police, if you don’t come out of there now! Stop scaring the kids!” Sebastian called, his voice only wavering a little.

“Uuuuuuhhhhhhhhh”

A dark figure stepped out of the shadows. The kids screamed. Sebastian stared at the thing, frozen on the spot. The thing raised a hand and shoved the hood from his face.

“Max!! You—you!”

With that Marcus flung himself on the figure, pummeling at him with both hands. The man went down, laughing, while trying to fight off the kid.

Sebastian watched as they rolled on the grass, the man apparently trying not to hurt Marcus, but laughing so hard that the kid got in a few punches at the guy’s ribs. They definitely had wrestled before.

Slowly the fight left both of them, and they sat up, still chuckling.

“That was you?”

“You complained that Halloween would be boring. So I decided to change that.”

Marcus looked offended and Sebastian burst out laughing.

He reached down to help the man up. “You are?”

“Marcus’s brother. Max.”

“I’m Sebastian. You scared us all right.”

“Sorry for that. But he—” he gestured at Marcus, “was mouthy as hell today.”

“It’s okay. No worries. But you can come along and watch them now. I somehow went from spending an evening with my nephews and nieces to having eight kids to look after.”

Sebastian admired Max’s handsome face, the dark hair and the grin. “Maybe we can get a drink or something after we have them home again.” He smiled at Max.

“Or something sounds good.” Max grinned back at him, one eyebrow raised.

Oh, yes, or something would be much better.

They started walking next to each other, the kids now way ahead of them, and Sebastian cast glances at Max whenever the light of a streetlamp allowed it. Once or twice their gazes met and held. If Sebastian wasn’t mistaken, this Halloween would be one of the best in a while.
